Technology

How the SAG Mill works

The SAG mill combines impact and friction: mineral charge and steel balls rotate inside the drum, breaking and reducing material in a single continuous stage.

Mineral feed

Raw mineral is discharged directly into the rotating drum together with water to form the slurry. Feed sizes up to 300 mm.

Impact and friction grinding

Lifter bars lift the charge during rotation. As it falls, steel balls and the mineral itself self-fragment. Reduction from 300 mm to < 25 mm in a single pass.

Classified discharge

Fine slurry passes through the discharge grate. Oversize material recirculates for regrinding. Precise control of final particle size distribution.

Digital optimization

Real-time vibration, temperature and energy consumption sensors. Integrated SCADA system with predictive analytics for maximum availability.
